Twelve21’s unique perspective comes from the privilege we have had to work in churches in both North America and Africa. Our founder, Yusuph Emmanuel, grew up in Tanzania, East Africa. He has experienced mission trips from the perspective of the indigenous church and as the foreigner. He has seen what works (and doesn’t) when it comes to planting lasting, self-sustaining churches.

God has given him a passion for developing, equipping, and encouraging pastors to plant churches that multiply. Each church we plant has already been matched with a trained, ministry-minded pastor that will continue the work even after we have gone.

In addition to expansive church planting experience, Yusuph also grew up as a street kid. He understands the daily hardships that come with not knowing where the next meal will come from, along with the difficulty of finding quality healthcare or accessible education. Because of experiences in a non-Western environment, Twelve21 is able to meet these needs how they must be met in the culture we are walking in to, not the one we are coming from.

Church-planting, education, and healthcare are at the core of Twelve21 because they are at the heart of the Kingdom. As we continue to walk in faith the path set before us, we pray that God would establish the work of our hands (Psalm 90:17), and our hope is that you would join us as well!
