Peter Kilezu: Empowering Families, Transforming a Community

I am Peter Kilezu, the headmaster of Oikos School in Bukabwa, which is one of the schools supported by Twelve21 Global. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing something truly remarkable: parents taking an active role in the Community Transformation training offered by Twelve21 Global. This training has not only taught new skills but has also instilled hope and empowered families to see their potential in a new light.

By equipping parents to recognize and utilize the resources around them, this training is addressing more than just short-term needs. It is laying the groundwork for lasting change. Parents are starting to realize that they have the ability to shape their own future and, in doing so, create a stronger, more stable environment for their children. This ripple effect, born out of empowerment, extends far beyond the classroom and into the heart of our school community.

I believe we will see this empowerment reflected in the very fabric of our school’s operations. When parents are engaged and confident, they become more involved in school activities, support their children’s education in more meaningful ways, and help foster a positive and uplifting school culture. This collaboration between the school and families is not just about improving test scores or grades; it’s about creating a nurturing environment where children can thrive in every area of their lives.

Looking ahead, I am excited about the future. By empowering parents to take ownership of their lives and actively support their children’s education, we are building something far more powerful than a successful school—we are creating a resilient community. Together, we are paving the way for a brighter future where everyone—students, parents, and teachers alike—has the opportunity to flourish.
