Here at Twelve21 Global we promote a culture of lifelong learning and development. We believe that children of God growing in grace are continual learners. As we learn, we deepen our walk with God and increase our wisdom and sensitivity to our Lord.
In my opinion, becoming a lifelong learner means intentionally embracing the habit of consistently seeking to acquire knowledge and applying it in real life. We accomplish this by studying God’s Word through Bible studies, listening to sermons, seeking godly counsel, reading inspirational books, and watching uplifting videos and other sources as led by the Holy Spirit.
I am convinced that lifelong learning is an essential pursuit in the life of humanity because it is through learning diligently that we come to know the truth, gain wisdom and understanding, and eventually live our lives effectively. Scripture urges us to pursue this calling. John 8:31 compels us to “know the truth, and the truth shall make you free”. Proverbs 4:7 tells us, “Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it costs all you have, get understanding”. (Emphasis added.)
Ignorance is humans’ biggest enemy. Failure in life—spiritually, relationally, financially, ministerially, etc.—could find its root in ignoring the habit of lifelong learning. The prophet Hosea tells the people of the Lord, “My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” Because of this failure on the part of the people, God disciplines them justly.
Personally, I have had an experience of massive failure in my life due to ignorance. I have, therefore, made a decision to be a lifelong learner in the things of the Lord. Hopefully you already have the same commitment, and if not, decide today to seek the wisdom and knowledge of the Lord. Scripture tells us, “The fear of the Lord is pure, enduring forever; the ordinances of the Lord are reliable and altogether righteous” (Psalm 19:9) and “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding” (Proverbs 9:10). Fear the Lord and gain his wisdom. That’s the first step to becoming a lifelong learner.
Thanks for reading; I pray that it blesses you.
